On the conclusion of the workshop on the “Assessment of Compliance with Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems”

The Deposit Insurance Agency in cooperation with the IADI’s Training and Conference Committee held a workshop in Tirana, during 6-8 July 2011 on the topic “Assessment of Compliance with Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems”.

This workshop, being the first of its kind, served to bring together high representatives of counterpart deposit insurance institutions, IADI’s members, USAID consultants, members of the partnership for financial stability project PFS, as well as high representatives of local regulatory and supervisory authorities.

Both the organisers and the participants considered the workshop a success as it achieved its main objective, i.e. the professional training of deposit insurance employees and providing them with the necessary skills for self-assessing the core principles for effective deposit insurance systems.

The Deposit Insurance Agency believes that this workshop served especially for the improvement of the professional training level of the Agency’s staff in the field of deposit insurance, for the assessment of compliance of its professional standards with the core principles of the deposit insurance system as standards approved by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) and the International Association of Deposit Insurers.
